HIRING: Marketing & Communications Coordinator

Job Description


Reporting to the Executive Director, the Marketing and Communications Coordinator will work to increase the visibility of the Nellie McClung Foundation (NMF) with an emphasis on empowering girls and women in leadership.


Specifically, the Marketing and Communications Coordinator will engage the Foundation’s networks by producing by producing timely and brand consistent content for the Foundation’s multiple social media and multimedia platforms. The coordinator will collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop messaging campaigns to advance the mission of the NMF and coordinate other programming tasks as needing.


The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining a clear and concise brand that enables the Foundation to differentiate itself from similar not-for-profits. They will also build relationships with traditional media and produce press releases, with an emphasis on increasing the profile of the Foundation province wide.


Compensation: $22/hour

Contract: 12 months

Hours: 15 hours a week

Qualifications Preferred: Post-Secondary School, Marketing related experience

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Winnipeg, MB


Core functions and duties


70% - Communications - Social Media/Network engagement/Content production

  • Manage and produce written and visual/multimedia content for email distribution, website, and social media channels to raise the visibility of the NMF.

  • Write and design regular content for website and email list.

  • Use Adobe Creative Suite to create graphics and edit photographs.

  • Develop and post regular content for Facebook and Twitter, in line with the Foundation’s Marketing Strategy and Implementation Plan.

  • Participate in key social media and Marketing and Communication committee meetings.

  • Produce visuals, video, and/or multimedia storytelling to support the NMF’s work. Potential projects could include producing short web videos or infographics on timely issues, supervising design consultant work, and designing marketing assets.

  • NMF’s website, including overseeing the production of new content and shepherding its ongoing development through Wix.


30% - Communications - Media Relations

  • Build relationships with media outlets and key communications partners that will lead to mainstream media coverage of the Foundation’s events.

  • Track news coverage of the NMF and its key issues.

  • Respond to media requests in a timely manner.

  • Work with NMF Board of Directors and Executive Director to generate and release media advisories, press releases, and statements.

  • Develop talking points for pertinent current events and programming for use by the Board of Directors and Executive Director.
