Evangeline Simard

High School

Evangeline (Eve) Simard, a Grade 12 student at Birtle Collegiate Institute, is a dedicated leader, artist, and mental health advocate. The youngest of five children and a lifelong rural Manitoba resident, Eve has overcome the challenges of ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, and OCD with determination, resilience, and a commitment to helping others. She will begin her post-secondary studies in the Fine Arts program at Brandon University, with the goal of pursuing postgraduate studies in Art Therapy.

Eve is a passionate advocate for students with learning disabilities, giving presentations to younger grades and mentoring peers to empower them in their own journeys. As a member of her school’s Peer Counselor Group, she has helped lead initiatives that promote mental wellness, inclusivity, and education on issues such as Indigenous history and the Truth and Reconciliation, MMIWG2+, Pride Month, and anti-bullying. She also serves on the Student Council, volunteers at school events, and was nominated for the Park West School Division Citizenship Award for 2024/2025.

Art has been both Eve’s creative outlet and a way to process her personal challenges. She is an active member of her local Arts Council, has participated in juried art shows, and is the recipient of the Manitoba Westman Rural Mentor Art Grant, enabling her to study under a professional artist.

Through her leadership, advocacy, and creativity, Eve strives to inspire others, break down stigmas, and use art as a tool for healing and connection.
