Ridhi Singla

Post-Secondary

Ridhi Singla, a pre-medicine student at the University of Winnipeg, is a dedicated aspiring physician driven by a deep commitment to helping others, improving lives, and making a lasting difference in healthcare. Since immigrating to Canada from India with her family, Ridhi has balanced academic excellence with extensive volunteer and community work, overcoming financial and personal challenges along the way.

Her hands-on experience includes working as a support worker for children with disabilities, volunteering at a children’s hospital, and co-leading a year-long fundraising project for the Children’s Rehabilitation Foundation, which raised over $1,200 to support accessibility and resources for children in need. These experiences have strengthened her leadership, advocacy, and interpersonal skills, while deepening her passion for medicine.

Guided by perseverance, empathy, and a strong sense of purpose, Ridhi plans to pursue medical school with the goal of becoming a compassionate and skilled doctor who advocates for vulnerable populations and contributes to a more equitable healthcare system.

The Nellie McClung Foundation acknowledges with respect that we conduct our work on Treaty One Territory and in the National Homeland of the Red River Métis. We honour the Anishinaabeg, Anisininew (Oji-Cree), Ininiwak (Cree), Oceti Sakowin/Dakota Oyate, and Michif (Métis) Peoples as the original caretakers of this land. With gratitude and reciprocity, we recognize the songs, stories, teachings, and knowledge systems rooted here. The Treaties were entered into in good faith, as agreements to share, not surrender, the land. We are committed to upholding the spirit and intent of these agreements, and to building a future grounded in truth, equity, and meaningful collaboration.
