Celeste Pelletier

High School

Céleste Pelletier is a determined student-athlete, emerging leader, and future engineer whose achievements exemplify the courage and perseverance celebrated by the Nellie McClung Trailblazer Scholarship.

From an early age, Céleste sought opportunities in fields where women remain underrepresented. Beginning her career at just thirteen years old in landscaping and construction-related work, she quickly developed an interest in building and infrastructure. Through hard work, reliability, and determination, she earned the respect of colleagues and demonstrated that leadership is built through action and consistency.

Athletics has also played a defining role in her journey. A competitive hockey player, wrestler, and volleyball athlete, Céleste has continually challenged barriers and exceeded expectations. Her experiences have reinforced the importance of perseverance, confidence, and being judged on merit rather than assumptions.

Beyond athletics, Céleste has served as a team captain, referee, coach, and community volunteer. Through these roles she has demonstrated a leadership style grounded in integrity, encouragement, and service to others.

This fall, Céleste will attend Toronto Metropolitan University to study Civil Engineering while competing on the women’s varsity volleyball team. Her ambition, leadership, and willingness to challenge expectations embody the trailblazing spirit of Nellie McClung.

The Nellie McClung Foundation acknowledges with respect that we conduct our work on Treaty One Territory and in the National Homeland of the Red River Métis. We honour the Anishinaabeg, Anisininew (Oji-Cree), Ininiwak (Cree), Oceti Sakowin/Dakota Oyate, and Michif (Métis) Peoples as the original caretakers of this land. With gratitude and reciprocity, we recognize the songs, stories, teachings, and knowledge systems rooted here. The Treaties were entered into in good faith, as agreements to share, not surrender, the land. We are committed to upholding the spirit and intent of these agreements, and to building a future grounded in truth, equity, and meaningful collaboration.
