NMF Welcomes Divya Sharma to its Board of Directors

Divya Sharma is a dynamic community leader with extensive experience in governance, nonprofit advocacy, and international representation. She currently works with the Office of the Vice-President (Research & International) at the University of Manitoba, where she supports interdisciplinary research initiatives, international partnerships, and strategic project development connected to global and national priorities.


Divya previously served as President of the University of Manitoba Students’ Union, representing more than 24,000 students and overseeing a multimillion-dollar operating budget, seven business units, and key organizational portfolios including governance, human resources, and strategic planning. In that role, she helped advance a 5-year strategic plan, introduced new accountability measures, and led major student-focused initiatives such as a 10,000-participant mental health campaign and a $50,000 Holiday Hampers program supporting families across Manitoba.


Her leadership includes serving as a delegate to United Nations high-level political forums, the UN Commission on the Status of Women, and international policy delegations through the EU and Rotary. Divya holds advisory positions on numerous boards including UNICEF U-Report, the Provincial Women’s Advisory Council, CBC’s Manitoba Community Advisory Board, and several community-based cultural and professional committees.


Divya is completing a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Global Political Economy at the University of Manitoba. Passionate about equity, youth leadership, and building resilient communities, she brings strategic insight, policy experience, and a strong commitment to advancing the mission of the Nellie McClung Foundation.
