The Nellie McClung Foundation Welcomes New Leadership to Its Board of Directors

The Nellie McClung Foundation is proud to announce new leadership members on its Board of Directors. This team of committed women combines expertise, compassion, and a common goal of promoting equality, inclusion, and empowerment throughout Manitoba.

Judith Chambers, MBA, CFP, TEP, CEA, RWM, serves as Chair of the Board. With over twenty-five years of experience in the financial services sector, Judith has built a respected career in wealth management focused on helping women and families gain confidence and clarity in their financial futures. She previously served as Vice Chair and Chair of the Sustainability Committee, where she advanced long-term planning and organizational growth. Her leadership reflects the Foundation’s mission to honour women’s achievements and strengthen inclusive community development across Manitoba.

Connie Yunyk, B.A. (Honours), B.Ed., PBDE, serves as Vice Chair. A lifelong educator and community leader, Connie is known for her dedication, humility, and collaborative leadership. As the first lay President and CEO of St. Mary’s Academy, she has been an inspiring role model for young women. Within the Foundation, she has helped shape the Yes I Can Leadership Award program, which celebrates young women who demonstrate exceptional leadership and vision across Manitoba.

Diane Sparrow continues to serve as Past Chair, offering her knowledge, mentorship, and steady guidance to the Board. Under her leadership, the Foundation achieved important milestones in community engagement and partnership building. Diane’s thoughtful approach to leadership and her deep commitment to advancing women’s voices have left a lasting impact on the organization.

Marcy Bell, CPA in Canada and the United States, has been appointed Treasurer. Marcy brings more than a decade of executive financial leadership, having served as Chief Financial Officer at Ducks Unlimited Canada and the Sustainable Forestry Initiative, and as Director of Finance at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. She is also an active volunteer and lifelong learner, committed to service, accountability, and the principles of good governance that reflect the values of Nellie McClung.

Melina Elliott, MSc, serves as a Board Member. A healthcare entrepreneur and women’s health advocate, Melina co-founded Body Measure Inc. and The Menopause Practice Inc., where she focuses on empowering women through evidence-based wellness and education. Her leadership in healthcare and mentorship within the community continue to inspire positive change.

Lisa Cefali, B.Comm (Honours), FEA, serves as a Board Member. With more than thirty years of experience in corporate strategy, executive search, and leadership development, Lisa helps organizations and boards grow through inclusive governance and thoughtful planning. Her work spans multiple sectors, and her dedication to youth education, reconciliation, and social responsibility aligns closely with the Foundation’s mission.

Jana Thorsteinson serves as a Board Member and brings more than two decades of experience in external relations and executive leadership. As Senior Vice President of Guest Experience and Engagement at the Assiniboine Park Conservancy, she contributes valuable expertise in communications, community connection, and stakeholder engagement. Jana has also been a long-time contributor to the Yes I Can Leadership Award committee, helping to celebrate and share the stories of emerging women leaders in Manitoba.
Together, this Board of Directors continues to build on the legacy of Nellie McClung through leadership that honours women’s achievements, supports community progress, and inspires the next generation of changemakers.
